Dresses for Short Women

Being a short woman myself, a dress that makes me feel like a goddess was important to me on my wedding day. When I first went dress shopping with my mom, I knew basic styles and shapes I wanted to try. The ball gown style was a shape I knew I wanted to try just once, but for me it made me look like a jumbo cupcake, not quite the look I was going for. I finally found the shape that made me shine like a diamond and elongated my petite frame.

Today, I will show you 5 amazing dresses that will flatter the petite bride!

First of all, petite brides are not flattered by the ball gown shape because it stretches horizontally and not vertically, so avoiding shapes like this would be ideal. However, by all means, try them on and have fun with your mom, your sister, and your closest friends. The shapes to seek out are trumpet, sheath, mermaid, and A-line. Check out my latest post on dress shapes here.

This sheath dress draws attention to the shoulder area, which can elongate the shorter bride's narrow waist and make the eye graze upward. Dresses with these details can look wonderful on shorter brides.

This A-line goddess has a plunging neckline that also elongates a shorter frame. The lace details also create an optical illusion stretching the torso in both directions making the bride appear taller.

This micro fit and flare with a daring neckline and intricate sleeves will draw all the attention upward, elongating the torso and neckline making the short bride look angelic.

This lovely mermaid gown from Pronovias has Meghan Markle vibes and will make any shorty feel like a princess. The boat neck is a classic look that draws attention to the shoulders and is a modest alternative to the plunging neckline.

No dress list is complete without a little color. Show off some leg and elongate your frame with this stunning pink number from BHLDN.

I hope these dress ideas help you on the hunt for the dress of your dreams. These beautiful gowns will not just look good on the shorties in the wedding club, so grab your mom, your sister, and your bestie and happy shopping!
